Check out this Ice Hotel in Northern Sweden. Its interiors will have you marvelling at how ice can be used as architecture. For more chilling imagery and details, click "Read More." Located in Jukkasjärvi, Sweden 200 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle, ICEHOTEL is the best example of temporary architecture. It is the first and largest hotel made of ice and snow. Each year it is redesigned by new architects and artisans constantly helping the design to evolve. The existence of the ICEHOTEL is entirely reliant upon the climate and Torne River, from which the 4000 tonnes of ice are harvested each year between March and April. The whole process invovles about 100 people and is constructed between November and December. No pun intended but this is really cool! L O C A T O R via: archdaily.com CommentsLeave a Reply |
